Another Transformers: Mosaic strip I've drawn for the webcomics project was posted today! This is the second strip I've drawn for them, with the first being "Protest" a few years ago. As always, my thanks to all involved!

New webcomic? Maybe an old one...

So what have I been working on lately? Besides having a ridiculously busy schedule with the day job, as well as a hectic freelance and festival schedule, I've been working on a little something on the side with the Mrs. lately.  It's not entirely new, this project of ours, and we dusted off some old ideas and mixed with a lot of new. I won't say too much more, except "Fall."

Peanuts Specials You'll Never See: Twitter Fun For Everyone!

Good grief! I was bored and decided to tweet a few "unused" titles for Peanuts animated specials that we'd never see. To my surprise (and great amusement) dozens of other bored people joined in using the hashtag #PeanutsSpecialsYoullNeverSee

This went on for nearly 24 hours (so far) and has been a lot of fun with some truly hilarious "what ifs." That's social networking for you!

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated Review

Fired up the DVR and... it's good. :)

But... it's not what I expected! First off, the show is a reboot. I think. As far as I can tell, we're starting fresh. Granted, the "Scoobyverse" never had its continuity set in stone, but Coolsville is no more and now the gang hails from a place called Crystal Cove, which is renowned for its alleged paranormal activity.

A few quick observations... (Mild SPOILERS!)

* Unlike most past Scooby shows (save for The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo) this series has an ongoing story arc, while at the same time still sticking to the classic 'monster of the week' formula.

* The gang has been reverted to their original 1969 designs, but the overall art style is still very different from past Scooby shows. The closest show I can think of to compare it to would be Jackie Chan Adventures. That's not a bad thing -- it works -- it's just not what I expected (which would have been a continuation of the art style from Abracadabra-Doo)

* The tone of the show is more focused on mystery, and its a lot less slapstick and "moodier" than most Scooby shows. The tone actually reminded me of the Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew... had they been animated... and featured a talking dog.

* This is a retcon, so there are lots of new elements added to this incarnation -- particularly the Mystery Inc. gang's family relationships. We find out that Freddie is the mayor's son, Daphne has four snobby sisters and Velma's flakey parents run the local tourist trap -- er -- paranormal museum. Velma and Shaggy are also a couple (!!!) but this is kept on the downlow as they try to hide it from Daphne and Freddie.

* There are homages to the original series aplenty! Matthew Lillard takes over as Shaggy, but Casey Kasem plays his father. The Crystal Cove museum is filled with the costumes of past Scooby villians, and I even spotted Don Knotts (!!!) in a crowd scene! Excellent!

This was just a preview. I guess the series doesn't officially premiere until this summer, but it shows a great deal of potential. I'll be tuning in for sure!
